Actually dangerous — the cloth insulation around it weakens with age, and the box usually provides no RCD protection or earthing, which means real shock and fire risk under modern loads.
Can it be kept as a backup after the new installation?
We don't recommend it. Any remaining connection to the old box reintroduces the same cloth-insulation and no-earthing risks.
What does a full fuse-board replacement cost?
It depends on the number of circuits and the condition of the wiring leaving the board. We confirm pricing after inspection.
Does building committee approval take long?

We need 110V circuits for American appliances — can that be included?
