FAQ
How is the electricity bill calculated in Egypt?
Using progressive tiers (September 2024): first tier is 0.68 EGP/kWh, rising to 2.58 EGP/kWh above 1,000 kWh. A customer service charge of 1–40 EGP is added based on the tier reached.
Do inverter appliances really save electricity?
Yes — inverter appliances consume 30–40% less than conventional ones by varying speed instead of cycling on/off. Savings are most noticeable in appliances running many hours, like the fridge and AC.
Does this calculator give the exact bill amount?
It gives a very accurate estimate based on official tiers. The actual bill may differ slightly due to meter reading fees or local utility adjustments.
